Cornerstone
Apostolic Church is active in prison ministry. Pastor McKinney
was contacted by the staff at
Big Sandy USP, Inez, Kentucky, a
maximum security federal facility, on August 20, 2008, to see if Pastor McKinney would
be interested in conducting periodic services at the facility.
How the staff and inmates came to know about Bro. McKinney and
Cornerstone Apostolic Church was through the weekly radio broadcast,
The
Apostolic Voice Of Phelps, aired each Sunday on
WQHY-FM 95.5
in Prestonsburg, Kentucky. Many of the staff and inmates are
faithful listeners to the radio broadcast.
After the first visit in December 2008, and the overwhelming
response of about 130+ who attended the Service, Bro. McKinney made
a commitment to be in service with the guys at
Big Sandy, USP once a month as
schedules permit.
Since that first service, Pastor McKinney has had the humble
experience of ministering the Gospel of Jesus Christ to many within
the facility.
Continue to pray for the staff and their families, the inmates and
their families, and Bro. McKinney, as this work continues.
Recently, Cornerstone Apostolic Church purchased 150 KJV Bibles
and donated them to the facility to be given to the inmates who
don't have a Bible. Upon hearing about this venture, others
started to show interest in donating to help make this possible.
The
Phelps Veterans of Foreign Wars, located in Phelps Kentucky wanted
to get involved so they donated $100.00 toward the purchase of the
Bibles. Bro. McKinney presented the Phelps VFW with a letter
of appreciation.
Later,
Pastor Mike Stocks who pastors Harvest Pentecostal Church located in
Thomasville, NC donated $200.00 to help with the cost of the Bibles.
Bro. McKinney was in Thomasville, NC on April 21, 2008 to receive
this donation. Bro. McKinney presented Bro. Stocks and the
church with a letter of appreciation and a certificate of
appreciation.
We appreciate
those who have gotten involved with helping purchase these Bibles
for the inmates.
